FLORENCE, SC - The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) will host a webinar on "Properly Specifying Steel Deck" on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm EDT. Participants are eligible for 1.5 PDHs.
There is a right way to specify steel deck products in your project, and there are many wrong ways. Properly specifying the steel floor and roof deck is actually quite simple, and by properly specifying the deck is one way to gain economy in your project. That is the Good Way. Then there are the Bad and the Just Plain Ugly ways, which cost the project in time, money, and performance. This session will show how to properly specify steel deck using information from the Steel Deck Institute (SDI) Standards and other publications, and provide other tips and ideas to make specifying steel deck easy, including various architectural, acoustical, and fire resistance related topics.
The learning objectives include:
- Explaining the difference between limits imposed by strength and serviceability,
- Identifying how to properly specify fire-rated deck assemblies, and
- Identifying the proper deck finish for varied environmental exposures.
