FLORENCE, SC — The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is hosting a webinar on "Properly Specifying Steel Joists" on Tuesday, February 20, 2019 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. EST. Participants are eligible for 1.5 PDHs.
Open web steel joists are an efficient, economical method of framing building floors and roofs, but there are some basics that should be covered in the structural design and specifying process. This webinar will highlight the current codes and specifications that apply to steel joist construction and provide insight into the best way to plan your next project. Practical guidance will be provided to both avoid unnecessary RFIs and to maximize system economy.
The learning objective include:
- Proper use of reference standards,
- Avoiding common pitfalls and unnecessary RFIs,
- Tips for economy with the specified steel joist system, and
- Awareness of design tools available from the Steel Joist Institute.
