STI to Host "Fire Protection of Hollow Structural Sections" Webinar on Oct. 4

September 25, 2018

The Steel Tube Institute (STI) will host a webinar on "Fire Protection of Hollow Structural Sections" on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. CDT. During the hour-long learning opportunity, STI will review the fire protection benefits of hollow structural sections (HSS). By attending the webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the effects of fire on steel in general and at what temperature an HSS section is affected.
  • Learn about the required resistance time and the methods that can be used to achieve it.
  • State the equations needed to calculate the fire resistance of an HSS member.
  • Describe how concrete filled HSS provide an aesthetically pleasing answer to HSS fire resistance and how this resistance can be calculated.

STI webinars include 1 AIA Accredited PDH per registrant. Fee for joining is $95 and registration is available here. Participation is free for Professional Members of STI who enjoy discounts on HSS design guides and six webinars per year for just $125. Details about membership can be found here.
