A new four-part webinar series to be held August 8, 10, 15 and 17

WASHINGTON, DC The Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA) is partnering with the University of Wyoming to host a four-part webinar series titled “Short Span Steel Bridges: Learning by Example.” A distinguished panel of industry experts has been assembled to present case studies that offer resilient and cost-effective examples of steel bridge replacement projects. The webinars are offered free of charge and will be held on August 8, 10, 15 and 17 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EDT via the University of Wyoming’s Zoom platform. The series is recommended for bridge owners, designers, faculty, students and anyone else with an interest in learning about innovative solutions to meet the increasing demands placed on our nation’s infrastructure. Information and registration details are available at https://ow.ly/UIK150P9V1R.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will direct nearly $40 billion over the next five years to repair or replace many of the bridges across our country that are in poor condition, including short span bridges which make up about half of the National Bridge Inventory,” said Dan Snyder, director of the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance and vice president, construction program of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). “To responsibly implement this funding, bridge owners and designers must construct cost-effective and resilient structures that will last well into the next century and possibly beyond. This webinar series will introduce participants to new innovative materials, designs and protection systems for short span steel bridges that are available now to improve our nation’s infrastructure.”

He noted that each webinar combines practical educational material with project case studies, allowing participants to directly apply what they are learning to projects in their own local communities. Participants who successfully complete all four webinars and accompanying quizzes will earn certificates of completion from the University of Wyoming.
