Free Webinar on Steel Bridges And Maximizing Transportation Investment During United For Infrastructure Week
May 9, 2026Washington, D.C.– The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA), and American Galvanizers Association (AGA) will host a free one-hour webinar, “How Steel Bridges Maximize Transportation Investment,” on May 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. EDT to discuss how resilient design strategies can help maximize the impact of federal infrastructure investment. The webinar is being held in conjunction with United for Infrastructure 2026, which is being observed May 18-22. Registration details are available here.
As the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act approaches expiration, maintaining a stable Highway Trust Fund will remain important to ensure continued investment in safe, reliable bridge infrastructure. This webinar will highlight how proven solutions in steel bridge design can support long-term performance and value. The session will begin with a brief discussion of key federal infrastructure policy considerations, including the importance of a stable Highway Trust Fund and the role of Buy America provisions in supporting domestically produced steel and a strong U.S. manufacturing base.
The webinar will be presented by Brett Smith, senior director of government relations at the American Iron and Steel Institute, Dr. Michael Barker, professor of civil and architectural engineering at the University of Wyoming and director of education for the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance and John Krzywicki, marketing director at the American Galvanizers Association.
Join us during Infrastructure Week for a practical discussion on how steel bridges, paired with effective protection systems, help extend service life and improve the overall return on transportation investment.

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) serves as the voice of the American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice. AISI’s membership is comprised of integrated and electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmakers, steel pipe and tube manufacturers, and steel processors and fabricators reflecting the production and distribution of both carbon and stainless steels which are critical to the everyday lives of all Americans — including national security, roads and bridges, buildings, the electrical grid, clean energy technologies and the automotive market. AISI also represents associate members who are suppliers to or customers of the steel industry. For more news about steel and its applications, view AISI’s website at www.steel.org. Follow AISI on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter (@AISISteel) or Instagram.
The Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA) is a group of bridge and buried soil steel structure industry leaders who have joined together to provide educational information on the design and construction of short span steel bridges in installations up to 140 feet in length. For more news or information, visit https://www.shortspansteelbridges.org/or follow us on Twitter at @ShortSpanSteel or Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ShortSpanSteel/.
The American Galvanizers Association (AGA) is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to serving the needs of specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, fabricators, and after-fabrication hot-dip galvanizers throughout North America. Since 1933, the AGA has provided information on the most innovative applications and state-of-the-art technological developments in hot-dip galvanizing for corrosion control. The AGA maintains a large technical library, provides multimedia seminars and offers a technical support line to assist specifiers. Learn more at https://galvanizeit.org/.
